How to Measure for Your Custom Made Hat

Although we prefer to measure every customer ourselves, we understand that is not a possibility for everyone. So, if you will follow these simple instructions you and a friend can get as, or close to as, accurate a measurement as we get here in our shop. Although it is possible to get a good measurement by yourself, we do recommend that you enlist the assistance of your spouse, family member, or a friend.

Please use a cloth measuring tape, such as tailors or seamstress’ use. If you do not have one, please use a ribbon or other material that does not stretch. Place the tape around the fullest part of the back of the head. (see photo1) Bring the tape around on both sides, about one half inch above each ear. Continue wrapping the tape around the head to meet on the forehead, about one half inch above the eyebrows. (see photo 2) If you are using a tape with centimeters, you may use the size menu to choose the appropriate size for the circumference of the head. If you are uncertain, please contact us by phone or email and we will be happy to assist.

Now you must choose the shape of your head. Please have your assistant look at the top of your head. There are several shapes listed on our shape menu. (insert clip of open shape menu) Here are some examples of what those shapes might be similar to:

round
wide oval
long oval
egg oval

(The top of each symbol represents the forehead.)

If you prefer to have us verify your head shape, you may email us a photo of the top of your head, as well as a facial photo, just to be sure.
